Lucky Dog Card Games
These games are based on the Orton-Gillingham method.
Each game focuses on a phonics rule and all of the games are played the same way.
These games are played with the students during tutoring sessions.
The card games can be played with 2 or 3 people. Each person gets 3 cards. If a person gets 2 lucky dogs they must give one up for a regular card. The deck is turned face down with one card turned face up next to it. Players take turns putting a card down on the face-up card that matches it's symbol or letter pattern. If there is no match the player draws one card from the stack. A Lucky Dog card allows the player to put down the dog, and on top of it, any card he chooses. The first one to get rid of all his cards wins.
