Orton-Gillingham Method According to studies, 15-20% of the population has a reading disability and 85% of those people have dyslexia. The most common problems are with reading, writing, and spelling. The Orton-Gillingham Method has been shown to be an effective way to teach children with dyslexia. This is a multi-sensory, structured approach. Letter-sound association, blending sounds into words, spelling, and basic sight words are taught first.
